Chances are if you are starting a new business venture, you will also be launching a website! Here are a few key things to remember when you are going through this process:

1. It is a very good idea to have the same company name as your website address (your URL). For example, Coca Cola is www.cocacola.com. If it was www.goodsoda.com, people are less likely to find it and remember it…especially if you do not have the advertising budget of Coca Cola to be able to bring awareness to a URL that is different.

2. Choose something that is easy to spell – the harder to spell, the more room for error, and not to mention, how fun is it to have to spell your company name or website address to people over and over again? Not so much.

3. Having a name that has completely no relation to your product or service (but just an attempt to be extremely unique and funky) may work for some major brands, but it is better to take the guessing game out of it. If it is clear what you are offering, chances are you will attract more attention from your target audience. People barely have enough time in the day as it is…so they aren’t likely to have time to hunt down what your company is all about just for the sake of it.
