For starters, if you are not familiar with these acronyms, SEO = search engine optimization and SEM = search engine marketing. Are they the same thing? No.
If you buy Google Adwords for example, this is considered paid or sponsored advertising. These are the ads that appear along the top and the sides of the screen when you do a search. This is a form of search engine marketing.

If you own a business, you should definitely have a website to compete in today’s marketplace — and then to get found in the search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo etc.) via keyword phrases, you need to invest in website optimization services.
Website optimization extends beyond company websites however. Actors, singers, musical groups, authors, athletes, and any type of more “personal” websites can benefit from search engine optimization as well.

Have you ever sat down to a holiday dinner and just had turkey? No trimmings like stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetables…etc? Not likely. The turkey along with everything else is what makes the dinner complete!
So, what is the other thing that needs “trimmings” in order to be complete? Your website of course! A nice looking website with quality content is great…but, it will not get you found online alone. It needs SEO…search engine optimization services…to drive more traffic to your website via keyword phrases relevant to your type of business and location.

As soon as someone hears the phrase “New Year’s Resolution” there is a cringe in the air as everyone thinks of dieting and cutting themselves off from the marvelous world of carbs. Is anyone still following Dr. Atkins and eating eggs and bacon for dinner in hopes of getting skinny?
Well, luckily we aren’t talking diets – we’re talking SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for your website. Start 2010 off right with increased website traffic and boost your sales! Along with the New Year, change things up a bit with your marketing budget. If your marketing dollars are limited, don’t spend it all on magazine or newspaper advertising. Instead, feed your website – promote it and get it found in the search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo!

We often enthusiastically hear “I come up first when I type my company name into Google and I don’t have SEO!” when the subject of search engine optimization comes up.
After explaining that does not mean they are getting found in the search engines, the excitement turns to dismay and confusion and the interest in the explanation of how SEO works is suddenly peaked.
If your company name is your URL (your website address – the “www.___________.com”) of course you will pop up….that is because the person online is typing in your business name – this is not the same as being found in search.

5. Your website is working for you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, bringing in potential clients from all over the world.
4. You will reach people who may have never heard of your company – they will find you because of the keywords they type into the search engine to reach your type of business in your location, such as “Seattle Dentist” or “San Diego Motel”.
3. Over 70% of online users rely on the Internet to search for products and services – the phone book is more of a dust-collector these days or used as a step stool to reach a high cupboard.

Planning the yearly budget can be a tricky task, especially if marketing dollars are limited, BUT without marketing, you risk missing out on so many potential customers. This is especially important if your company has not established a large client base.
What sounds like a better plan – optimizing your website, getting your brand known by limitless Internet users, increasing your sales – or – buying an ad in a magazine ($$$), relying on only those readers of the magazine (which may only be a local publication), and then having your ad essentially tossed in blue boxes for the weekly recycling.

Many people think that all they need is a nice looking website and they will be off to the races when it comes to getting found online and growing their business. Unfortunately, this is not the case.
If your website is not being optimized (and optimized the right way by a solid Internet marketing professional(s), you are relying on people who already know your website address or have your business card to become your clients. It is all of the people who do not know about your company that you want to reach! Imagine all of the possible clients you could be missing out on and basically handing over to your competition! You don’t want that to happen, do you?
